This was a project for the famous stills photographer Nick Knight. Over two days, several life sized coloured glass figures were demolished in Pirate's studio by 20mm ball bearings fired from our air cannon. By filming the event on digital video, which began recording at the instant the ball left the cannon, Pirate were able to calculate the time delay at which to fire the flash lamps - Nick could look through the video footage, choose a moment he particularly liked, then by repeating the shot with a dialled-in time delay we could capture the exact moment he wanted. For the pop promo, the 'bullet hits' were also filmed on Photosonic cameras and a crude black & white digital video camera, to give a laboratory-like feel to the footage.
